Cherry Blossom Painting

This is your chance to support the Japanese Garden Revival Project!

Help us rebuild the Japanese garden in Independence by the end of 2028 for the 50th Anniversary of Independence and Higashimuryama’s Sister City Exchange!

There are two ways to donate!

  1. Donate directly to us (not tax deductible)

  2. Tax deductible donations Via Truman Heartland Community Foundation

Here is the high-level plan with a phased approach. More details will be provided as progress is made through each stage.

  1. Design Consultation Fee Fundraiser Phase - $2,000 raised and design finished with total build estimate by end of 2023 - GOAL REACHED on 1/16/2023

  2. Design phase 2 - Due to the city hall migration plans, we’re potentially back to the design phase. We are looking at how we can continue to use the design we have on file with some adjustments to either a new location, or build onsite at the MCPL Admin Center. We’re currently waiting to determine next steps.

  3. Project Fundraiser Phase - Raise grand total build through grants, local donations, and fundraisers. Goal and time TBD

  4. Build Phase - Begin improvements and new build to the Japanese Garden. Timeline to TBD

  5. 50th Anniversary Celebration - Date TBD
